Annual Report: Use of SolarAPP+ Doubles Across the Country

Thirty-one communities have either launched or are piloting SolarAPP+, growing from 13 communities at the end of 2021, with nearly 90 communities testing or preparing to pilot the tool. SolarAPP+ is designed to make it easier and less time consuming for jurisdictions across the United States to issue permits for residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar-plus-storage systems. Reaching the Biden-Harris Administration’s target of a 100% carbon-free electricity grid by 2035 will require three to four times the current rate of solar deployment, which makes efficient permitting critical to achieving these goals.
