New EPA Report Shows Major Emissions Reductions in Electricity Sector from President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act
The Inflation Reduction Act marks the most significant action Congress has taken on clean energy and climate change in the nation’s history. Section 60107(5) of the Inflation Reduction Act requires EPA to assess the reductions in greenhouse gas emissions that result from changes in domestic electricity generation and use through 2031.
PA Must Expand the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard (AEPS) & Enable Community Solar
This PA law, from 2004, required all electric utilities to purchase 8% renewable energy in their portfolio by May of 2021. Included in that 8% is 0.5% solar. All utilities met the goal and nothing has happened since. While PA remains stuck in its fossil fuel past, all the surrounding states have moved into the future, adopting aggressive goals for much higher levels of renewable energy.
Acadia Center Releases Third RGGI Program Review Report
Today Acadia Center released its third Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) assessment, RGGI: Findings and Recommendations, which analyzed the program’s impacts to date and offers recommendations for adjusting RGGI in coming years.
