NJ Governor Speaks

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced the creation of a rule yesterday that will ban the sale of new gasoline and diesel vehicles in the state by 2035. The rule went further to move the target goal of 100% "clean energy" for electricity used in the state from 2050 up 15 years to 2035. The Governor's address included mentions of helping homeowners switch to electric heat pumps, increasing off shore wind capacity to 11,000 megawatts by 2040, and working with unions to determine the future of natural gas.

So far, the only funding source mentioned was a commitment of $70 million from the state's share of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
